Terms of service
These terms are the agreement between you and Christos Loucas (“we”, “us”), who operates MenuQR. By creating an account you accept them.
1. Who we are
MenuQR is run by one person, not a company. That means the service is smaller and more direct than most, and that the person named below is personally answerable for it.
- Service: MenuQR (https://menu-qr.org)
- Operated by: Christos Loucas
- Address: PLACEHOLDER — street, number, postcode, city, Greece
- Email: hello@menu-qr.org
2. What the service does
You upload a menu as a PDF or an image. We read it with an AI model, turn it into a digital menu you can edit, and publish it at a web address of its own, reachable by a QR code you print. Diners open that address in a browser; they do not need an account or an app.
3. Your account
- You need an account, and the details you give must be accurate.
- You are responsible for what happens under your account, so keep your sign-in details to yourself.
- Accounts are for businesses. You must be at least 18 and able to enter into a contract.
- You may close your account at any time. We delete your data as described in the privacy policy.
4. Your menu is yours
You keep every right in what you upload: your dishes, prices, descriptions, photos and logo. By uploading it you give us permission to store it, process it and publish it, for the single purpose of running the service for you. That permission ends when you delete the content or close your account.
You confirm that you have the right to use what you upload, including logos and photographs you did not create yourself.
5. What the AI does, and what it cannot promise
The dish names, descriptions, prices and any calorie or allergen information are produced by an AI model reading your document. It makes mistakes. It can misread a price, merge two dishes, or miss an ingredient.
You must check the published menu before you put it in front of diners, and you remain responsible for its accuracy. This matters most for allergens: allergen and nutrition information generated by the service is an estimate produced by software, not advice, and it is not a substitute for your own knowledge of your kitchen. Food information law places that duty on the food business, which is you. If a diner asks about an allergy, answer from your own records.
6. What you may not do
- Publish anything unlawful, misleading, or that infringes someone else’s rights.
- Use the service for anything other than menus and the business that serves them.
- Try to break, overload or work around the limits of the service, or access other accounts’ data.
- Resell the service, or use it to run menus for businesses that have not agreed to these terms.
- Upload personal data about individuals that a menu does not need.
We may suspend or close an account that does these things, and we will tell you why.
7. Plans and payment
There is a free plan and a paid plan (Pro). Prices are shown on the pricing page before you buy, including any taxes that apply to you.
What the free plan includes can change. Features that are free today may move to a paid plan, and free limits may change. We give account holders at least 30 days’ notice by email before a feature they are using moves to a paid plan. Nothing starts charging you without you choosing a paid plan.
Who you are buying from
Paid plans are sold by Polar Software Inc. as merchant of record. That means your contract for the payment is with Polar: they take the payment, handle VAT and sales tax, and issue your invoice. Their terms apply to that part, and your card details never reach us.
Free trial
The first time you subscribe to Pro, the first 14 days are free. You give a payment method when the trial starts, and you are not charged during it. When the trial ends, the subscription starts and your payment method is charged the price shown at checkout, unless you cancel before then. Your account page shows the date the trial ends. Cancelling during the trial costs nothing, and you keep Pro until the trial ends. There is one free trial per person: an account that has had a subscription before does not get another.
Renewals and cancelling
Subscriptions renew automatically, monthly or yearly, until you cancel. You can cancel at any time from your account; your plan then stays active until the end of the period you have paid for, and does not renew again.
Refunds
If you are a consumer in the EU you have a 14-day right of withdrawal for digital services. Beyond that, refunds are handled by Polar under their refund policy. If something we did caused the problem, write to us and we will sort it out.
Price changes
We may change prices. We will tell you at least 30 days before a change affects your subscription, and you can cancel before it takes effect.
8. Availability
We work to keep the service running, but we do not promise it will never be unavailable. We may change or remove features. If we make a change that seriously reduces what the service does for you, we will tell you in advance where we reasonably can.
9. If something goes wrong
The service is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost profits, lost business, or damage caused by menus published with incorrect information.
Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud. If you are a consumer, your statutory rights are unaffected.
Where liability can be limited, ours is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event that caused the problem.
10. Ending the agreement
You can stop using the service and close your account whenever you like. We may end this agreement with 30 days’ notice, or immediately if you seriously break these terms. When the agreement ends, your published menus stop working, so export or save anything you want to keep.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change matters to you, we will tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use the service after that means you accept the new version.
12. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by Greek law, and the courts of Greece have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country you live in, and you can also use the EU’s online dispute resolution platform.
Before anything formal, write to hello@menu-qr.org. Most things are solved in one email.
